Christmas Belles

It's Christmas-time in the small town of Fayro, Texas, and the Futrelle Sisters - Frankie, Twink and Honey Raye - are not exactly in a festive mood. The celebrity guest Santa Claus - played by Frankie's long-suffering husband, Dub - is passing a kidney stone. One of the shepherds refuses to watch over his flock by night without pulling his little red wagon behind him. And the entire cast is dropping like flies due to food poisoning from the Band Boosters' Pancake Supper. And when Frankie lets slip a family secret that has been carefully guarded for decades, all hope for a successful Christmas program seems lost, even with an Elvis impersonator at the manger. But in true Futrelle fashion, the feuding sisters find a way to pull together in order to present a Christmas program the citizens of Fayro will never forget. Their hilarious holiday journey through a misadventure-filled Christmas Eve is guaranteed to bring joy to your world!

The Producers

Auditions for this outrageous Mel Brooks comedy are on Dec. 6-7, 2015 at 7 PM at the Crighton. Be prepared to act, sing, and dance! See the website for more details on the show. Performances for The Producers will be on Feb. 12-28, 2016.

Bialystock and Bloom! Those names should strike terror and hysteria in anyone familiar with Mel Brooks' classic cult comedy film. Now as a big Broadway musical, The Producers once again sets the standard for modern, outrageous, in-your-face humor. It is a truly "boffo" hit, winning a record twelve Tony Awards and wowing capacity crowds night after night. The plot is simple: a down-on-his-luck Broadway producer and his mild-mannered accountant come up with a scheme to produce the most notorious flop in history thereby bilking their backers (all "little old ladies") out of millions of dollars. Only one thing goes awry: the show is a smash hit!

The antics of Max Bialystock and Leo Bloom as they maneuver their way fecklessly through finding a show (the gloriously offensive "Springtime For Hitler"), hiring a director, raising the money and finally going to prison for their misdeeds is a lesson in broad comic construction. At the core of the insanely funny adventure is a poignant emotional journey of two very different men who become friends. With a truly hysterical book co-written by Mel Brooks and Thomas Meehan (Annie) and music and lyrics by Mr. Brooks, The Producers skewers Broadway traditions and takes no prisoners as it proudly proclaims itself an "equal opportunity offender!"

Donny Edwards - One Night with Elvis

The Crighton Theatre presents Donny Edwards - One Night with Elvis. Donny Edwards was recently chosen as the first and only Elvis tribute artist to perform on the estate of Graceland. This Las Vegas Headliner will take you through the early years and Elvis' 70's concert era. This is considered the #1 Elvis show in the world. Special guest Dion Pride (son of Charley Pride) will perform. Opening the show with his oldies doo-wop will be the infamous Wayne King. Featuring the 9 member band Fever!

For Edwards, like many Elvis fans, his love of the King is a lifelong affair. "Ever since I was a kid I just remember listening to him and loving listening to him," Edwards said. "My parents said that when I was 2 years old they would play Elvis records and I would shake my leg kind of like him." Edwards spent much of his teen years and early adulthood being compared to Elvis, but it was in 2002, when he won an Elvis look-alike contest in Lake Jackson, that he began to wonder if it could be a career. He has performed around the United States and the world performing approximately 200 shows a year.

Don't miss Donny at the Crighton on March 28, 2015 at 7 PM.

Theatre Amsterdam

Normally we do not promote professional theatres - especially when they are overseas. Sometimes, the production values and excellent acting make it worth mentioning. Think of your best Broadway shows you have ever seen. This blows them away.

Anne is essentially the Diary of Anne Frank but based on her three edits of the diary. When you have a theatre that is built specifically for a show and can combine live stagework with live camera work and cinematography that brings out the best of all mediums, you have a hit. Don't speak Dutch? Ask for the iPad that translates in real time the show to 8 different languages including English.

This show has been extended several times. If you get the opportunity to see Anne, request the backstage tour after a performance. You will not be disappointed.

Anne continues until the end of January 2016.
