Hello Dolly

Hello, Dolly! is a musical filled with charisma and with heart. Matchmaker Dolly Levi is a widow, a matchmaker, and also a professional meddler - but everything changes when she decides that the next match she needs to make is to find someone for herself. Along the way she also succeeds in matching the young and beautiful Irene Molloy with Vandergelder's head clerk, Cornelius Hackl; Cornelius's assistant Barnaby Tucker with Mrs. Molloy's loop assistant, Minnie Fay; and the struggling artist Ambrose Kemper with Mr. Vandergelder's weeping niece, Ermengarde.

Set in New York City at the turn-of-the-century, Hello-Dolly! is boisterous and charming from start to finish. Hello, Dolly! features such memorable songs as "Before the Parade Passes By," "It Only Takes a Moment," "Put on Your Sunday Clothes," and - of course - the title number, "Hello, Dolly!"

Performances are from Feb. 9-25, 2018!

The Real Bonnie and Clyde

Come to a free video presentation about the real Bonnie and Clyde. Using the diary of Blanche Barrow, one of the members of Bonnie and Clyde's gang - this documentary sheds light on the careers of two celebrated gangsters. At that time police jurisdictions were restricted by state lines; they were often poorly equipped with firearms. Through astute driving and by using the latest army-issue weapons, Barrow was not only able to elude the police but could invariably out-shoot them in a fight. After a two-year reign of terror, both he and Bonnie were killed in a final shoot-out.

This free presentation will at the Crighton on Tuesday 7 PM, March 6, 2018!

    The Elephant Man

The Elephant Man is based on the life of John Merrick, who lived in London during the latter part of the nineteenth century. A horribly deformed young man, victim of rare skin and bone diseases, he has become the star freak attraction in traveling side shows. Found abandoned and helpless, he is admitted to London's prestigious Whitechapel hospital. Under the care of celebrated young physician Frederick Treves, Merrick is introduced to London society and slowly evolves from an object of pity to an urbane and witty favorite of the aristocracy and literati only to be denied his ultimate dream, to become a man like any other.

    Harry's Dream

Thanks to the American Heritage Girls who joined us on a free tour of the Crighton!

A typical tour begins with a 20 minute movie made especially for the Rising Stars and Legends Festival in 2017. The short documentary is about the founder of the theatre - former Mayor Harry M. Crighton. During the process of making the documentary we were able to find materials not previously discovered or well known. After the short movie we will take a walking tour around the Crighton which should last about 15-20 minutes. The tour can be customized to meet any interests or educational requirements.

Call us at the Box Office at 936-441-7469 or contact This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it to book a group or individual tour.

As we started to collect stories and memorabilia for the Crighton Theatre History Project we realized we were starting to collect stories about more than just the early days of the Crighton.

At first the project began as an outgrowth of junior high school requirements to interview a veteran.  The effort has evolved into a part of the community effort to record stories from our veterans before their stories are lost.  For instance, the Veterans Museum of Texas collects memorabilia and stories.

If you are interested in the stories of our veterans, find out more below.

The historic Crighton Theatre is celebrating its 80th birthday. In honor of the 80th anniversary STAGE RIGHT - in cooperation with the Crighton Theatre Foundation and the Heritage Museum of Montgomery County - has started gathering pictures, posters, stories, documents, and other memorabilia that chronicle the diversity and richness of the Crighton theatre history.

The purpose of the project is to document and save the history of the Crighton Theatre for future generations. STAGE RIGHT will do this by:

    • Collecting and scanning pictures of events and people
    • Transcribing stories and memories
    • Photographing artifacts, playbills, posters, and other physical objects related to the Crighton
    • Creating a video and book dedicated to the history of the Crighton

A living history is being prepared and proceeds will fund restorations for the theater built in the 1930’s.
