Mary Poppins

One of the most popular Disney movies of all time is capturing hearts in a whole new way: as a practically perfect musical! Tickets are selling fast!

The jack-of-all trades, Bert, introduces us to England in 1910 and the troubled Banks family. Young Jane and Michael have sent many a nanny packing before Mary Poppins arrives on their doorstep. Using a combination of magic and common sense, she must teach the family how to value each other again. Mary Poppins takes the children on many magical and memorable adventures, but Jane and Michael aren't the only ones she has a profound effect upon. Even grown-ups can learn a lesson or two from the nanny who advises that "Anything can happen if you let it."

Performances are from July 7-23, 2017!

Noises Off

STAGE RIGHT of Texas, resident theatre company at the historic Crighton Theatre, announces auditions for Noises Off July 9 and 10th at 7 pm. The show is directed by Travis Bryant.

AUDITION LOCATION: Crighton Theatre 234 N. Main St. Conroe, TX 77301

SYNOPSIS: Michael Frayn's Noises Off takes a fond look at the follies of theatre folk, whose susceptibility to out-of-control egos, memory loss, and passionate affairs turn every performance into a high-risk adventure. This play-within-a-play captures a touring theatre troupe’s production of Nothing On in three stages: dress rehearsal, the opening performance, and a performance towards the end of a debilitating run. Frayne gives us a window into the inner workings of theatre behind the scenes, progressing from flubbed lines and missed cues in the dress rehearsal to mounting friction between cast members in the final performance. Brimming with slapstick comedy, Noises Off is a delightful backstage farce, complete with slamming doors, falling trousers, and -- of course -- flying sardines! For more information see the website.

Performances are from Sept. 8-24, 2017!

BJ Thomas

A true American institution whose iconic pop, country and gospel hits defined their respective generations and now transcend them, B.J. Thomas has found a unique way to celebrate an incredible half a century in music and some 47 years since his first gold selling hit on Scepter Records. Come see this five time Grammy and two time Dove Award winner who has sold more than 70 million records and is ranked in Billboard's Top 50 most played artists over the past 50 years, as he entertains a packed house.

Many of Thomas' signature hits (from "Raindrops" to "Another Somebody Done Somebody Wrong Song" and "Lonesome") find him seeking some level of positivity to overcome the proverbial universal battle with loneliness. He extended this theme into his successful late 70s-early 80s foray into gospel music, which earned him the first four platinum albums in the genre's history: Home Where I Belong, Happy Man, You Gave Me Love and Amazing Grace. Four of the singer's Grammy Awards were earned from his work in gospel, in the category of "Best Gospel Other: Incl. Sacred, Religious or Inspirational Recording, Musical or Non-Musical."

See BJ Thomas on Aug. 26, 2017 at 8 PM at the Crighton! website | Buy tickets online!

Operation Pets Alive

During the run of Mary Poppins we will be collecting donations for Operation Pets Alive! who believe that many in our community share our values with regard to homeless dogs and cats. Therefore, we see a need to increase community awareness and community involvement regarding the No-Kill movement and the plight of homeless dogs and cats in our community. We want to help people "do the right thing" for animals.

Operation Pets Alive! (OPA) is an all-volunteer, non-profit organization that depends on generous donations from individuals, corporations, and foundations to fund our programs, supplies, and operational expenses. We do not receive any money from the government.

OPA's Foster/Adoption program provides animals in its care with food, shelter, veterinary care and the promotion and matching necessary to find a forever family. OPA's Trap, Neuter, Return of Feral Cats and Targeted Spay and Neuter programs help to dramatically limit the number of homeless dogs and cats entering our local shelters. Both programs require funds for low-cost spay and neuter surgeries, equipment and transportation charges.

What is the Conroe Veterans Project? PDF Print E-mail

As we started to collect stories and memorabilia for the Crighton Theatre History Project we realized we were starting to collect stories about more than just the early days of the Crighton.

At first the project began as an outgrowth of junior high school requirements to interview a veteran.  The effort has evolved into a part of the community effort to record stories from our veterans before their stories are lost.  For instance, the Veterans Museum of Texas collects memorabilia and stories.

If you are interested in the stories of our veterans, find out more below.

The historic Crighton Theatre is celebrating its 80th birthday. In honor of the 80th anniversary STAGE RIGHT - in cooperation with the Crighton Theatre Foundation and the Heritage Museum of Montgomery County - has started gathering pictures, posters, stories, documents, and other memorabilia that chronicle the diversity and richness of the Crighton theatre history.

The purpose of the project is to document and save the history of the Crighton Theatre for future generations. STAGE RIGHT will do this by:

  • Collecting and scanning pictures of events and people
  • Transcribing stories and memories
  • Photographing artifacts, playbills, posters, and other physical objects related to the Crighton
  • Creating a video and book dedicated to the history of the Crighton

A living history is being prepared and proceeds will fund restorations for the theater built in the 1930’s.
